After declaring that subsection 4 of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAX) had reached a 91 percent completion rate back in August 2023, MPCALA Holdings Inc (MHI), the entity responsible for managing CALAX, has now officially announced the inauguration of the Silang Aguinaldo Interchange within the expressway.
This Wednesday, this new 3.9-kilometer segment of CALAX is now accessible to the public, with the aim of enhancing travel efficiency for individuals in the region. Motorists will be able to utilize this newly opened subsection without incurring any charges, as the toll remains waived until further notice.
"We're thrilled about this CALAX expansion, which will not only make life easier for our motorists but also boost the local economy. By providing a quicker and more convenient route to popular destinations in Cavite, we're creating opportunities for businesses to thrive and for families to make the most of their time together."
According to MHI, The Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange will play a pivotal role in alleviating traffic congestion on Cavite's busiest highway while offering a quicker path to the booming tourist attractions of Silang town and Tagaytay City. Anticipated to accommodate an additional 5,000 travelers, it will grant them effortless entry to Cavite’s vibrant locations.
This recent advancement establishes a connection between CALAX and Aguinaldo Highway in Silang, further improving accessibility and extending the advantages of convenient travel to the surrounding community and beyond.
In the near future, CALAX is set to undergo significant expansion, reaching a total length of 45 kilometers by 2024, and incorporating eight key interchanges: Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor's Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchange. This extended network will ultimately connect to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, creating a seamless connection between vital regions. Currently, CALAX's operational sections span from Mamplasan Rotunda up to the Silang East Interchange.
The new CALAX Silang Interchange provides another solution for people who frequently commute between Metro Manila and Silang or Tagaytay, offering a means to circumvent the recurring traffic congestions that plague Aguinaldo Highway on a daily basis.
