Changan Philippines is going through a big change in 2023. Moving away from its former distributor, the Chinese brand in the country will now be under the wing of Inchcape Philippines.
The former distributor of Changan vehicles in the country was Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI), and the company has since turned over the rights to the brand to a new player in the market, Inchcape. With this, the Changan brand will continue to operate in the country under new management, and also alongside the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, and even Harley-Davidson.
To celebrate the addition of Changan into Inchcape’s lineup, a re-launch is to be held on September 30, 2023, with shareholders, company executives, and members of the media. Apart from the standard set of information gathered from the e-mail, it was stated in the text that the event was going to be “electrifying” leading us to speculate that either a product launch or preview will accompany the brand re-launch.
In short, Changan Philippines will be entering into a new era with its new distributor at the helm. It’s likely that the brand’s lineup will continue to compete in the segments that it currently populates with the likes of the Changan CS35 Plus, CS55 Plus, and others.
However, it appears that more models are incoming or on the horizon so to speak. “Electrifying” was the literal ‘buzz’ word used in the invite which leads us to expect a new EV in the lineup, newer than the Eado EV currently listed in the Changan lineup. Because of that, we’re expecting Changan Philippines to be one of the key players in electrifying the Philippine automotive industry, and we’re also anticipating the brand’s contributions to the infrastructure in the country for electric mobility.
Furthermore, we also hope that the brand will continue to pursue high-quality standards when it comes to its products and services. As a relatively young brand in the country, we’re hoping that its customers will be able to enjoy its products without hassle.
Inchcape is currently in a good position with Changan, currently, as the brand already has a few locations established in the country, currently, with up to 36 listed in total. We expect the number of locations to increase in the coming years and for Changan to establish a stronger presence in the country under the leadership of Inchcape.
