United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of Chery in the Philippines, announced that the brand just topped the country’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales charts, thanks to strong demand for its all-new Tiggo rEV CD-M 7-seater SUV. The surge came right as the brand rolled out the new Tiggo rEV Luxury Edition (LE).
According to the latest sales data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), Chery moved 81 units of the Tiggo rEV in October, which was enough to grab more than a quarter of the entire PHEV market that month. In total, 19 PHEV models from seven different brands sold 303 units, with the second-placer only hitting 51.
Chery credits the success to the Tiggo rEV’s feature-packed offering and its nationwide network of 25 dealerships, which helps keep ownership and aftersales support easy for customers. As a refresher on what this PHEV brings to the table, the Tiggo rEV LE is a 7-seater built with premium touches and smart tech, but still comes in at a very accessible price point. It uses the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system, which supports Type 2 and CCS2 charging, and is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 204 ps and 310 Nm of torque. This setup delivers up to 1,400 km of combined electric and hybrid range.
The model is also packed with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM). It also features a 540-degree camera system with dynamic guidelines for easier parking and maneuvering.
Inside, the Tiggo rEV LE has a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It comes with a Sony 12-speaker sound system, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Wireless Android Auto, Heads-up Display (HUD), remote engine start with brake pedal trigger, smart proximity key, and a panoramic sunroof. It also includes retractable flush door handles for a cleaner look.
The Chery Tiggo rEV LE is available at all Chery dealerships nationwide at a starting price of P1,528,000.
