2022 Chery Tiggo 2 Pro

The 2022 Chery Tiggo 2 Pro has officially launched in the Philippines. Chery’s subcompact crossover gets some subtle yet significant upgrades, which should entice the brand’s most loyal fans. A sportier exterior design and a more modern interior headline the updates, but there’s a lot more to see from the Tiggo 2 Pro. The model’s public reveal is slated for November 26, 2021, but here are some details about what to expect from the model.

So what does this model mean for the Tiggo 2? Chery stated that they will be selling the Tiggo 2 until further notice, which means that this model will be sold alongside the standard ‘2’ perhaps until stocks last or until Chery firmly establishes the Tiggo 2 Pro nameplate. Still, the new model is a nice upgrade from the standard.

Chery Tiggo 2 Pro

At first glance, the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro carries the same silhouette as the base model Tiggo 2. Look closer, however, and you’ll see all the changes Chery gave the subcompact crossover.

It’s apparent in the larger, more prominent grille that features a similar Diamond Galaxy grille to that on the Tiggo 7 Pro. The pattern feels hypnotizing if you look at it for more than a minute or two, and it should give the Tiggo 2 Pro a touch of uniqueness. The front fascia also benefits from sharp high-mounted LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs).

Over to the side, we see a confident stance enhanced by the double shoulder lines and distinct wheel arches. The Tiggo 2 Pro rides on clean-looking 16-inch alloy wheels, which perfectly complement the touches of chrome around the vehicle.

At the rear, Chery boasts of 3D hollow smoked tail lamps. There’s also a hefty bumper and an integrated spoiler to make things more sporty. For practicality, the rear trunk space has been increased. Overall, the Tiggo 2 Pro looks much-improved in design and function versus the Tiggo 2.

The changes don’t end on the outside, as Chery also furnished the Tiggo 2 Pro’s interior with some nice amenities. The cabin looks more refined, as made clear by the liberal mixing and matching of materials. There’s fewer hard plastics this time around. Chery added more soft touch material along with faux carbon fiber accents.

The new flat-bottom steering wheel with audio controls looks like something out of a sportier and more expensive car, but it fits well inside the Tiggo 2 Pro. Behind it is a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster with a driver display. Right at the middle, there’s a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay. There’s also QDLink for Android users, and Bluetooth for more generic entertainment needs.

Below the large screen is a set of old-school dials for air conditioning and other toggles and switches. Chery says it has reduced the cabin noise by a noticeable amount, and that claim will be tested. Leather seats across a more spacious interior cap the Tiggo 2 Pro’s premium finish.

As for onboard tech, Chery gave the Tiggo 2 Pro all the essentials and more. The highlight is clearly cruise control, but there’s also a Bosch 9.3 electronic stability program (ESP) with traction control, braking assist, and hill-start assist. Rounding out the feature list are follow-me-home headlights, push-button start and keyless entry.

Chery Tiggo 2 Pro

The Chery Tiggo 2 Pro packs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine. It makes 108 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 3,000 rpm. We would have liked to see a turbocharger on it, but you do get it paired with a new 9-speed CVT. That’s upgraded from the 4-speed automatic on the Tiggo 2. It should make for a smoother ride while providing better fuel efficiency. There’s no other gearbox option, so buyers would have to make do with the CVT.

Chery Philippines is launching the Tiggo 2 Pro with an introductory price of P818,000. That’s only until the end of the year, after which it will sell for P838,000. It’s incredibly competitive at that price point, and we’re curious to see how the crossover does in our market.

The Tiggo 2 Pro will also be available in a variety of colors, including the orange launch color. As with all of its vehicles, Chery offers a 10-year powertrain warranty, 5-year general vehicle warranty, and 3 years of free PMS. With 20 dealerships nationwide, Tiggo 2 customers can also buy into Chery’s industry-leading after-sales services.
