It looks like China’s getting first pick again with two new cars from Nissan: the all-new N6 PHEV and a refreshed Teana. Nissan has officially introduced the N6, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), alongside the latest version of the Teana in China. Both models were revealed through Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng, and are part of the company’s growing efforts to strengthen its presence in the Chinese market.
The Nissan N6 is the first model built on Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy architecture. The car has a futuristic design that leans more toward EV styling than a traditional gas-powered sedan. Measuring 4,831 mm long, it fits between a Honda Civic and a Toyota Camry in terms of size. Powering the N6 is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a 21.2 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery. Nissan has not shared full specs yet, but more information is expected as the car nears its official launch. Given its features and size, the N6 will likely compete with other Chinese market sedans such as the Mazda EZ-6.
The new Teana was also shown at the same event. It now has a more modern look that’s closer to Nissan’s electric models, such as the Ariya and Leaf. While Nissan didn’t mention any changes to its engine, it did confirm that the Teana will now come with Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5.0 smart cockpit and a new SOUND audio system. Just like the N6, the updated Teana will also go on sale in China before the year ends.
“Under our Re:Nissan plan, we are redefining what Nissan delivers today and beyond. It’s about strengthening our core, reigniting Nissan’s heartbeat, and creating products that inspire excitement and trust. It is about a sharper, more focused product strategy, a stronger brand, and a renewed commitment to our customers.
These two launches are part of Nissan’s “Re:Nissan” plan, which concentrates on renewing the brand and offering cars that customers enjoy and trust. The company says China is a good market for this plan, as it continues to lead in car technology and customer trends.
