Mitsubishi has just introduced the 2025 version of its Outlander Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) in Europe, bringing with it some new features and better electric range. Mitsubishi’s 2025 Outlander PHEV may look similar to the previous model, but the updates under the hood and to its electric system make it worth talking about.
The car is powered by a 2.4-liter petrol engine that produces 134 hp and 203 Nm of torque, which is paired with two electric motors – one at the front with 114 hp and 255 Nm of torque, and one at the rear with 134 hp and 195 Nm of torque. Altogether, this SUV delivers 302 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. It's a strong car for those who want to have both electric and gas power.
The 2025 model features a new 22.7 kWh battery, a slight upgrade from the old 20 kWh battery. This allows the car to run up to 86 kilometers on electric power alone. Along with a larger 53-liter fuel tank, the Outlander PHEV can now travel up to 844 kilometers on a full tank and charged battery, which makes it good for longer trips.
Similar to its predecessor, the new Outlander PHEV comes with several driving modes. It provides an EV-only mode, where the car runs entirely on electric power, and a hybrid mode, where both the engine and motors work together for better performance. There are also options to save battery charge or recharge while driving.
Mitsubishi also worked on improving the car’s traction with its updated Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, which makes driving smoother in different conditions. The steering and suspension were fine-tuned for better handling and comfort, especially when driving at higher speeds. Visually, the car gets a new grille with active shutters, updated 20-inch wheels, and slight changes to the taillights. Inside, the new model now includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, replacing the older 9-inch system.
Though Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed pricing for different markets yet, the European launch is planned for March 2025. With hybrids becoming more popular in the Philippines, we may soon see the updated Outlander PHEV here.
