When the next-generation Ford Everest made its local launch in the Philippine market, it was made available with the 2.0-liter EcoBlue lineup of engines. This meant that depending on the variant you chose for the SUV, you would either get 167 hp and 405 Nm of torque from its single-turbo version or 207 hp and 500 Nm of torque from its bi-turbo variation.
However, in other markets such as Australia, another engine option was available for the SUV which comes in the form of a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine. While initially thought that the V6 model wouldn’t make it to the Philippine market, reports from Autoindustriya.com and from headlightmag.com indicate that it could be a possibility. Their report state that a V6 model has already been spotted in Thailand and as many of you already may know, Ford Philippines sources many of its units from the Land of Smiles. This increases the chances of the V6 Platinum model making it to the local market.
So what comes with the V6 model? For starters, the spotted version of the SUV bears Platinum badging which is similar to what you would find on the Australian version. It may look like a regular Titanium 4x4 model, however, there are key marks to differentiate it from the rest. These marks begin with the Platinum badging on the tailgate of the vehicle. This continues with the 21-inch alloy wheels, a different set of roof rails, and V6 emblems on the fenders.
On the inside, the Platinum model comes with a similar layout to the Titanium model with its distinguishing feature being its seats that come with a special pattern. Aside from this the SUV also comes with a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
For those wondering about the power figures of the V6 engine. It produces 246 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Similar to the Titanium 4x4 variant, the power it produces will be sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. It will also come with 4WD aids such as an Active Center Differential and a differential lock for the rear wheels.
According to the reports, the Ford Everest Platinum model may officially be launched in Thailand in late 2022 or early 2023 with it possibly making an appearance at the Thailand International Motor Expo.
There is no news yet if Ford Philippines will bring in the V6 model, but if it were to bring it in, we could expect a local launch to happen sometime in 2023.
