Australia and New Zealand are getting a new variant of the Ford Ranger Raptor. To further extend the look of the Ranger Raptor, Ford is slapping on some racing stripes along with a bevy of other upgrades and accessories that will surely tickle to fancy of many Ford Ranger fans.
This new variant of the Ranger Raptor will be called the Ranger Raptor X. It looks like Ford is incorporating a rally-racing look to the new Raptor X. The racing stripes are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of changes, as there are also bed bars that look quite similar to the Ranger FX4 MAX and FX4 variants. Historically, the Ranger FX4 and FX4 MAX made their debuts in Australia first, then in the Philippines. Because of this, it will not be too out of the box to assume that the Ranger Raptor could get the X treatment. Ford did just update its Ranger lineup for 2021.
So apart from the decals and bed bars, the Raptor X also gets a red accent color that is found all throughout the vehicle. The decals also feature a texture along with matte black elements that replace the glossy panels found in the base Ranger Raptor. The wheels are also finished in matte black instead of gloss. Plus, Ford thought that it was a nice touch to give the front tow hooks a dash of that red accent color.
Onto the interior, we no longer see blue thread in the leather and Alcantara seats, instead, we get more of that red accent stitching. The entire dashboard is stitched with red, as is the steering wheel, the seats, and the door cards. Apart from that, it’s the same Ranger Raptor interior that we’ve grown to like over the years.
Even with its extra bits, the Ranger Raptor is still the same beast under the hood. You still get 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque from the 2.0-liter Biturbo EcoBlue engine from Ford, and it will still have Baja mode, so expect fun times with this Ranger Raptor.
That being said, we might see this model in the country. It could only be a matter of time, but Ford hasn’t released any statements yet about their most exciting pickup in the Ranger lineup.
