Peugeot 2008 Philippines

Peugeot Philippines has been busy for the past few months. Operating under its new distributor, Astara, the French brand has undergone a renaissance of sorts in the local automotive scene. First launching the 3008, 5008, and Traveller Premium in the Philippines, Peugeot's lineup will likely soon include the 2008 subcompact crossover.

In a now seemingly deleted Instagram Stories ad, Peugeot Philippines' official account showed a tiny peek of what looks like the 2008's front fascia, including its signature headlight and claw LED lighting layout. Below the preview was a caption that read "coming soon" and the tagline "Drive Towards the Future." Now, whether that was a mistake on Peugeot's part is uncertain, but that it made rounds as a legitimate ad makes us think this was a real marketing effort.

In any case, it looks like it's only a matter of time before the Peugeot 2008 lands in the Philippines. The subcompact crossover is already on sale in Malaysia, where Peugeot also builds the model in its Gurun plant. Models set to ship to ASEAN markets, including the Philippines, have reportedly already left the assembly line.

If the Malaysian model is any indication, the local-spec Peugeot 2008 could carry a 1.2-liter PureTech turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering 130 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission. The crossover features Peugeot's i-Cockpit 3D cabin layout—a design element also present across the brand's newer models. The local model will likely feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Apart from that, the Peugeot 2008 could also come with a host of advanced driver-assist features if and when it arrives in the country. Features like front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera, automatic emergency braking, active lane keep assist, and active blind sport monitoring could all come available with the crossover.

The 2022 Peugeot 2008 comes with a P 1.578 million-equivalent price tag in Malaysia. Looking at the other models available in the Philippines, Peugeot could give the subcompact crossover a slight price bump, meaning a local price of up to P1.7 million. We'll learn the official specs and pricing when the Peugeot launches the 2008 in the country.
