Dongfeng Motors Philippines just made owning one of its EVs a whole lot less of a hassle, and current owners are already feeling the difference.
The Chinese automaker rolled out its new PROTECH program, an ownership package built around beefed-up warranty terms and a maintenance schedule that demands far less from your wallet or your calendar. The announcement came during a sit-down with the Nammi EV Owners Club Philippines on August 21, giving the brand's growing fanbase a first look at what's changing.
The headline news for anyone who already owns a Nammi or Vigo is this: preventive maintenance visits just got a lot less frequent. Instead of the old schedule, PROTECH stretches things out to every 18 months or 15,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
Buyers walking into a Dongfeng dealership going forward get an even sweeter deal. On top of that same extended 18-month/15,000-km PMS interval, new Nammi and Vigo owners are covered by a 10-year unlimited mileage battery warranty and a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty on the entire vehicle. That's the kind of coverage that puts serious weight behind the brand's claims about durability.
Rollie Navarro, Dongfeng Philippines' Sales Director, explained that the decision wasn't made on a whim. According to him, the extended service interval grew out of real operational data the company has gathered, giving engineers enough confidence to stretch things out without gambling on reliability, safety, or performance.
Giovanni Frias, VP for Sales and Operations, says PROTECH is proof that Dongfeng isn't done sweating the details on customer value. He noted the company plans to keep finding ways to sharpen the ownership experience moving forward, rather than treating this rollout as a one-and-done fix.
"The future of ownership isn't just about selling an electric vehicle. It's about standing behind every kilometer our customers drive. PROTECH reflects our confidence in the quality and reliability of the Vigo and Nammi while reinforcing our promise to deliver an ownership experience that is convenient, dependable, and built for the long term. As we continue to grow our presence in the Philippine EV market, we remain committed to continuously enhancing the value we provide to every customer."
Zoom out, and PROTECH fits into a broader pattern for Dongfeng: leaning harder into practical, customer-first improvements rather than just chasing sales. Between the extended battery coverage, the comprehensive bumper-to-bumper protection, and the lighter maintenance load, the automaker is betting that dependable aftersales support will be just as important to Filipino buyers as the vehicles themselves.
