The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announces the opening of the Phase 1 of the Laguna Lake Highway (also known as C-6 Dike Road) this Thursday, February 9, 2017.
According to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, the 10.7 km road network is expected to reduce the traffic along EDSA and C5.
The highway will include 2 additional lanes along Napindan to M. L. Quezon section in Taguig City, a 3m wide bike lane, and planting strips. Moreover, the project covers the rehabilitation of the existing asphalt road and the widening of 2 bridges along the route. The expansion of the bridges are expected to be completed by December 2017.
The thrust of the Duterte Administration is to ensure not only mobility of vehicles but also individuals. More bike lanes, sidewalks will be installed throughout the country,” said Villar.
When completed, Secretary Villar also mentioned that the Laguna Lake Highway Phase 1 will benefit travellers from Rizal and Makati/Taguig. In addition, the said thoroughfare will reduce travel time from Taytay, Rizal to Bicutan, Paranaque from 1 hour to just 30 minutes.
