The Philippine pangolin is one of the most endangered animals in the country, and Mazda wants to ensure it remains protected in its natural habitat. Mazda Philippines is continuing its support for the Katala Foundation in Palawan through a new campaign called the 1,500 Pangolin Project. From May 2025, every unit of the Mazda BT-50 sold will help raise P1,500 for the foundation’s ongoing efforts to protect the Philippine Pangolin. This money will go directly to programs focused on rescuing wildlife, stopping illegal hunting, and educating the public.
Mazda has been working with the Katala Foundation since 2020, backing its goal to protect one of the country’s most endangered native animals, the Philippine Pangolin (manis culionensis). Over the years, Mazda has supported the foundation with resources, including a BT-50 Pangolin Edition and a vehicle donation to help with their field work and patrols. Dr. Sabine Schoppe, who leads the Katala Foundation, shared her thanks for Mazda’s ongoing help, saying the partnership brings hope and shows how companies and people can work together to make a real difference in conservation.
Alongside the project, Mazda has also updated the BT-50 for this year. The pickup now has a tougher look, updated tech inside, and a more polished cabin. It comes with a new infotainment system, a 360-degree camera with built-in recording, and improved materials for comfort. All variants are powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic, offering good power and fuel savings. Hill Launch Assist comes standard, while the 4x4 Pangolin variant also includes Rough Terrain Mode for better handling on rough roads.
Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan shared that the 1,500 Pangolin Project reflects the brand’s goal to support the environment, not just through cars, but by helping the world around us. The campaign also fits into Mazda’s bigger plan, called Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030, which focuses on long-term responsibility and care for nature.
Help protect wildlife, one pickup at a time. Every BT-50 you buy supports pangolin rescue efforts in Palawan. Explore this model and the rest of Mazda’s lineup today on AutoDeal.com.ph. You can even get a quote in just a few clicks.
