More than two decades since the first Monster was unveiled to the public, it has finally grown up to be a sporty roadster that’s more destined on a winding back road while still remain faithful for the purists on the racetrack. Powered by a Superbike-derived 1198 Testastretta 11° DS engine that has been re-tuned to deliver ‘monstrous’ mid-range power delivery. It also boasts Ducati’s latest technologies such as having to adapt a “frameless” chassis concept attached from the forks to the cylinder heads and the Panigale-like, full-color Thin Film Transistor screen.
These settings allows the bike to change in character through the Ride-by-Wire technology in which the rider could easily demand depending on riding conditions.
Monster in performance but beautiful and smart on the inside. The Ducati-branded Riding Mode allows the Monster 1200 and the 1200s handle great amount of riding styles with three pre-configured settings (URBAN, TOURING, and SPORT). These settings allows the bike to change in character through the Ride-by-Wire technology in which the rider could easily demand depending on riding conditions. The wheelbase has also been lengthened by 2.3 inches to give better comfort and stability while an integrated grab rail comes standard to welcome back passengers into the fun.
The Ducati Monster 1200 was presented to the media in Ducati red with red frame and black wheels, while the Ducati Monster 1200s is most notable with its Öhlins suspension, carbon fiber front fenders, and matte black painted exhaust. Power has also set these two Monster 1200’s apart, the Monster 1200 having 135 bhp and the Monster 1200s having 145 bhp. These gains expand the line for a greater scope of customers looking for their needs.
The Monster 1200 is available in red, with a red frame and black wheels. While the Monster 1200S comes in either red with a red frame and black wheels, or in white with a bronze frame and black wheels. All models include traction control, ABS and Riding Mode.
The Ducati Monster 1200 is no stripped-down superbike. It’s still a monster with beautiful but intimidating looks and power.
