Enhanced Community Quarantine gets another extension until May 15, 2020. The Philippine Government is extending its safeguards due to a rising number of cases of COVID-19. Metro Manila and other “high risk” areas will be placed under this extension. The regions affected include Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Albay, and Catanduanes.
Rules and regulations for motoring will remain the same, meaning that motorists looking to use public roads and highways will need to adhere to several regulations imposed by the government to minimize social contact in the Metro.
More news about vehicle occupancy has also been stated. Social distancing inside a sedan will be limited to 4 passengers. This rule applies to only those who are allowed to travel by the government, which means only essential personnel, medical workers, and emergency workers will be allowed to travel freely. No other parameters have been given with regard to larger vehicles such as MPVs, SUVs, or Vans.

Violators of the enhanced community quarantine guidelines will also be fined or even arrested. The rules still hold, just for a little longer or until the situation becomes less dire and risky. Stay safe and at home if you don’t need to go out. For those buying supplies for their household, exercise proper hygiene and alertness when traveling for essential goods. The Enhanced Community Quarantine period will still be subject to assessment by the government, so another extension may happen.
