The Geely Coolray has been in the local automotive market for a little over two years now but has already made a great impact thanks to its attractive pricing and features. It was also the first model to be sold by Geely Philippines in the country when it was relaunched locally. That said, in its home country, the popular crossover has already received a facelifted model and is set to go on sale next month.
Starting off with the exterior looks of the facelifted model and not much has changed over the current iteration. The newer model does come with a new black honeycomb mesh grille, a new sportier-looking bumper with a gray-painted fascia, and a redesigned lower intake. Aside from this, it looks like Geely has chosen to stick with the current model’s set of headlights as these appear to be unchanged. However, reports have indicated that they might come with a new welcome sequence whenever the vehicle is unlocked.
Moving over to the rear of the vehicle and it’s a similar story to the front. The rear bumper has been redesigned and now sports a new diffuser. Aside from this, the tailgate-mounted spoiler also comes with a new carbon fiber-like finish. Completing its exterior look is a new set of 18-inch wheels along with new body-colored trimmings such as side skirts and front trimmings. The roof of the vehicle has also been painted black in its facelifted form.
Where things get interesting is when it comes to the interior of the facelifted Coolray. Its cabin layout remains largely unchanged, however, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system resides within the dashboard. However, it looks like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will still not be available for the crossover. We will still need to wait for the official launch to confirm if the two popular smartphone mirroring applications will be available with the car. Aside from the larger head unit, a new two-tone finish to the seats and steering wheel has also been added. further adding to this, the crossover also gets a newly redesigned gear selector along with brushed aluminum panels on the dashboard and door cards. The refreshed Coolray also now gains access to mood lighting available in 72 colors and a full panoramic sunroof.
Engine options for the crossover will likely still be carried over from the previous model. This means that the 1.5-liter turbocharged motor that produces 175 hp and 255 Nm of torque will still be the go-to powerplant for the crossover along with its 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With the refreshed Coolray set to make its debut sometime in August, it’s only a matter of time before it makes its way into the Philippine market. Geely was able to already bring in a new model quickly into the local market as seen with the brand’s launch of the Geely Okavango. With that in mind, it should be an easy task for them to bring in the facelifted 2022 Geely Coolray once it officially launches.
