Ford Philippines adds limited-edition Mustang Mach-E RWD variant with P2,599,000 price tag

It may be rear-wheel drive only, but this Mach-E still gets 272 hp and 525 Nm of torque.

Ford is making the Mustang Mach-E more attainable, but you'd better act fast. The American carmaker has introduced a limited-edition rear-wheel drive variant of the Mustang Mach-E, slotting it alongside the all-wheel drive version that went on sale last year.

The RWD Mach-E carries a sticker price of P2,599,000, which already factors in a P500,000 discount off the standard P3,199,000 retail price. Go for the Grabber Yellow colorway, and Ford sweetens the deal with another P100,000 off.

Ford is positioning the RWD variant as the range-focused, efficiency-first option in the Mach-E family. Where the AWD model chases grip and straight-line punch through its dual-motor layout, the RWD runs a single permanent magnet motor mounted at the rear axle. Output sits at 272 hp and 525 Nm of torque, which is plenty for daily driving and some extra fun.

The real headline is range. Ford claims up to 615 km on a single charge, a figure that makes it genuinely viable for both city use and longer provincial runs. The single-motor setup is a big part of why that number is achievable, drawing less from the battery under typical driving conditions.

Three drive modes come standard. Whisper dials back throttle and steering response for a relaxed, composed feel. Engage splits the difference between comfort and performance for everyday errands. Unbridle sharpens everything up when you want a more spirited drive. The transitions between modes are subtle rather than dramatic, but over the course of a drive, the character shifts noticeably.

One-Pedal Drive is also on board. Lift off the accelerator, and regenerative braking kicks in, slowing the car while feeding energy back into the battery. It cuts down on actual brake use, helps efficiency, and makes stop-and-go traffic considerably less tiring once you get used to it.

Visually, the RWD shares its looks with the AWD. The fastback roofline and tri-bar tail lamps are still there, nodding to Mustang heritage. Up front, a frameless grille with active shutters works alongside LED projector headlamps that handle automatic leveling, sequential turn signals, and signature lighting duties.

Nineteen-inch machine-finished aluminum wheels fill out the arches nicely, and the front trunk, made possible by the absence of a combustion engine, adds 80 liters of practical storage. Wet swimwear, muddy boots, beach gear, it handles all of it without touching your main cargo area.

Door handles are gone, replaced by Ford's E-Latch system. Press the button on the B-pillar, the door pops open slightly, and you pull it the rest of the way using a small aerodynamic hook. Rear passengers get a soft-touch release on the door frame. It takes a bit of getting used to, but the aerodynamic benefit is real.

Inside, the Mach-E RWD gets perforated ActiveX synthetic leather seats with 10-way power adjustment for both driver and front passenger, along with seat heating and dual-zone automatic climate control. Rear air vents are included, so back-seat passengers are not left out.

The instrument cluster runs a 10.2-inch digital display, while a 15.5-inch capacitive touchscreen handles infotainment through Ford's SYNC 4A system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a wireless charging pad and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Cargo space is a practical 402 liters behind the rear seats, expanding to 1,420 liters with the rear seats folded flat. Combined with the 80-liter frunk, total storage is competitive for the segment.

The Ford App rounds out the ownership experience. Through it, owners can remotely start or stop the car, manage climate settings, check charge status, set departure times and preferred charging windows, and review charge history, all from a smartphone.
