Ford Philippines recently spread some holiday cheer with children from underprivileged communities as it held a Christmas party in partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK). The Blue Oval partnered with the Gawa Kalinga Foundation to hold an in-person Christmas activity which was attended by 150 kids along with their chaperones from various GK communities in Mandaluyong, as well as from GK Maria in Rizal and El Dorado in Paranaque.
Employees volunteers from Ford and members of the automotive media joined the Pista sa Nayon-themed party and played the role of big brother and sister for the day. They joined the children in a series of traditional games such as pabitin, hampas palayok, Calamansi relay, and Trip to Jerusalem. The kids also had something to give the employee volunteers and members of the media as they serenaded the audience with Christmas songs and carols.
Aside from winning prizes during the games, the children also took home Christmas grocery packages for their families in time for Christmas dinner. In attendance at the event from Ford Philippines are managing director Mike Breen and Government and Corporate Affairs director Josie Gonzalez who also participated in the events and in the games.
Helping build and sustain communities remains one of our important advocacies at Ford. Christmas is a season of giving and a good opportunity to share blessings most especially to young children who always look forward to this time of the year.
She continues by saying that “We’re very happy to have returned to in-person celebrations as seeing the smiles from the kids and their families further inspires us to help more and to give more.”
Ford Philippines also did something similar back in September as part of the Global Caring Month with employee volunteers participating in various community-building programs.
