Ford Philippines unveils the 14th variant of the Ford Ranger, the Ford Ranger FX4 MAX. The new model to enter the nameplate’s lineup comes with tough looks and off-road-ready equipment at its side for those who like to go on the road less traveled. It delivers a similar off-road driving experience to its Ranger Raptor big brother, while still maintaining the comfort, safety, and versatility of its regular Ranger siblings.
The Ranger FX4 MAX is definitely a strong addition to our growing Ranger portfolio and further boosts the off-road capabilities of our trucks.
Umashankar continues, “It is the perfect pickup for customers who seek adventures as it is equipped with features that offer confidence and convenience in taking on the roads less traveled.”
Exterior
Just like the other variants in the Ranger nameplate, the FX4 MAX also comes with an F-O-R-D design grille that borrows inspiration from its bigger brother, the Ranger Raptor. Along with the grille, the new variant of the Ford pickup truck also comes with a tubular sports bar that is finished in matte black. The Blue Oval says that it allows for easy access to the load box of the vehicle. Body-mounted metal hoop side steps are also featured on the FX4 MAX, further adding to its off-road-ready look. These are finished in a non-slip material to make sure that the driver can easily get in and out of the vehicle.
Aside from these new updates, the FX4 MAX still retains the same look as the other Ranger models in the lineup. It does, however, come with a new set of 17-inch wheels that are wrapped in all-terrain tires. Lighting wise the new variant of the Ranger only comes with projector halogen headlights to help differentiate it from the higher-tier Wildtrak model.
Interior
On the inside, the Ford Ranger FX4 MAX features a rugged yet comfortable interior. The vehicle’s leather seats come with special carbon accents along with Miko suede inserts and FX4 MAX embroidery. Inside the vehicle are all-weather floor mats that make it easier to keep the pickup truck’s interior clean, especially while on off-road activities. The FX4 MAX also comes with treated sports pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel for better grip for the driver. On top of this, the vehicle also comes with Black Alley inserts on the door trims and dash applique that gives the FX4 MAX a unique interior look compared to the rest of its siblings under the Ranger nameplate.
Ford has also included an Auxiliary power pack, allowing customers to add powered accessories to the vehicle if they choose to do so. This gives the FX4 MAX more customizability options and better integration for off-road-related accessories. In order to meet the new electrical needs when accessories are attached to the vehicle, Ford has also equipped the new variant with a more powerful 250A alternator. With these new features, the FX4 MAX cements itself as another off-road-ready variant within the Ranger lineup.
Power
Under the hood, the Ford Ranger FX4 MAX comes equipped with the model lineup’s powerful 2.0-liter Biturbo diesel engine. This gives the off-road-ready and rugged pickup truck access to 210hp and 500 Nm of torque. Like its Wildtrak and Raptor brothers, it too comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission that is mated to a 4-wheel-drive system.
Assisting in putting that power to the ground is a set of 2-inch FOX shocks at the front and rear. These shock absorbers also come with a remote reservoir and tuned leaf springs that enable rapid recovery from extensive off-road use. Speaking of springs, these too have been modified to provide greater compliance while off-road, all while still being able to balance the FX4 MAX’s payload and towing capabilities.
Safety
In terms of safety, the Ford Ranger FX4 MAX comes well equipped and shares the same features as the other models below it. It comes with dual front airbags, an anti-lock brake system (ABS) paired with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), hill launch assist, hill descent control, and parking sensors for the rear of the pickup truck.
Pricing
The all-new Ford Ranger FX4 Max is priced at P1,689,000, which puts the new variant of the pickup truck right below the Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4x2 AT. This gives interested buyers an off-road-ready vehicle option that comes with the brand’s powerful 2.0-liter Biturbo engine. Ford Philippines has also stated that its price already includes the safeguard duties for the vehicle. With that in mind, prices for the all-new FX4 MAX aren’t expected to change any time soon.
