Ford is having a good year with its Ranger as sales continue to pile up in the Asia-Pacific region. Aside from Vietnam, the Blue Oval brand’s pickup truck recorded its best-ever H1 sales in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand with a total of 69,103 units sold, increasing by 9% year-over-year.
In Australia, the Ford Ranger sales tallied 22,105 vehicles sold, rising by 2.2% year-over-year. Meanwhile, this midsize pickup truck continues its reign over New Zealand with 5,160 units rolling off the dealerships in the H1 of 2018. As of this writing, the Ranger is the overall best-selling vehicle for three years in a row and best-selling pickup truck four years straight in New Zealand.
In the Philippines, the H1 sales of the Ranger hit a record sales figure of 5,470 vehicles or 19% year-over-year increase.
Taiwan still has the Ranger as the segment leader in sales with a dominant 63% share of first half sales, 30% more than a year ago. Thailand, on the other hand, sold 27,455 vehicles in the H1 of 2018. That’s an increase of 36% year-over-year, driving market share up from 1.5% to 13.2%. Vietnam continues to grow its segment share for the fifth consecutive year to nearly 50%.
Ranger remains one of our flagship nameplates across Asia Pacific, and its continuing success is being earned through unmatched versatility and capability that drives extraordinarily wide customer appeal.
Ford will roll out the new Ranger to markets across Asia-Pacific in the H2 of 2018, including the Philippines. Now, with the production of the Ranger Raptor in Thailand in full swing, it looks like the Blue Oval brand will only continue to dominate the pickup truck segment.
