Just last week, we reported that GAC Motor Philippines is holding an event on the 20th for a “stellar announcement,” we took that as an announcement for an upcoming model from GAC. In the same invite, we also got word of an event on June 30, 2023, where GAC will fully unveil a new addition to its lineup.
Since GAC has already given us the Empow and Emkoo, we’ve speculated on what else the automaker will bring into the country. After a bit of scouring around the net, we’ve whittled it down to a short list of cars comprised of the GS3 Power, GA6 Sedan, the GS5 SUV, the GS3 Emzoom, and the boosted Empow R. This time around, we’ll talk about the most probable candidate, the all-new GS3.
The all-new GS3 is an upgrade over the previous model, sporting an impressive design characterized by sleek and well-defined lines. Its emphasis lies on sharpness and proportion, enhanced further by its increased dimensions. Compared to the previous GS3 model, the new crossover is now 60 mm longer, 55 mm lower, and 25 mm wider.
In addition to the bigger body, the GS3 is equipped with an updated 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 2023 GS3 generates an impressive output of 175 hp and 270 Nm of torque. Power is efficiently transmitted through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. GAC asserts that the GS3 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in a swift 7.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed of the all-new GS3 is set at 190 km/h.
We think this new version of the GS3 will be the new car GAC Motor Philippines is rolling out. However, nothing is set in stone for now and we’ll have to wait until the 30th and see for ourselves what GAC’s new model is.
