After the launch of the GN8 Master’s Edition, GAC Philippines has one more surprise in store in the form of the 2022 GAC GS8. The refreshed crossover still retains the same exterior dimensions as the original model, but now comes with new exterior upgrades such as larger intake vents, a new front skid plate, as well as a host of new features.
Starting with the inside, the 2022 GAC GS8 retains the same interior look and feel as the previous model. It features a 10-inch LED display with Apple CarPlay connectivity along with a 6-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. It also is equipped with a wireless charging system to add to the convenience of charging a phone.
Aside from this, the refreshed GAC GS8 now comes with Alcantara seats that come with a heating and ventilation system with adjustable lumbar support and a memory function. The vehicle still retains separate air-conditioning controls for the second row along with a 5-volt USB port and an electric outlet to give other occupants other options to recharge their devices.
Under the hood, the refreshed 2022 GAC GS8 is still powered by a Euro 5 compliant 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is mated to an Asin 6-speed intelligent transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The 2.0-liter motor is capable of producing 199 hp and 320 Nm of torque giving the crossover more than enough power to get it up to speed.
Aside from the subtle but substantial interior and exterior changes, the refreshed GAC GS8 comes equipped with 10 airbags, ABD with EBD, a traction control system, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic parking brake, three-point seatbelts with alarm, ISOFIX child seat anchors, brake hold assist, engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, and window jam protection, fingerprint sensor door lock, anti-glare rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, and power tailgate with a motion sensor. The GS8 also gets a fingerprint sensor door lock that can be only be accessed by the keyholder adding a layer of security and convenience.
