BAIC Philippines x Gateway Group

MG Gateway Mantrade Corp. and BAIC Philippines inked a partnership agreement on June 8, 2026, at the BAIC flagship showroom along North EDSA in Quezon City. The signing brings Gateway Motors Group into the BAIC dealer fold, adding another heavyweight name to the Chinese brand's growing network in the Philippines.

Gateway Group has long been a fixture in local automotive retail, running dealerships across multiple brands and markets. That kind of reach is exactly what BAIC Philippines, operating under UAAGI Auto Inc., is looking for as it tries to extend its footprint beyond its current base.

Three new showrooms are already in the works. Gateway Group will open BAIC dealerships in Manila Bay, BGC Taguig, and Matina, Davao, covering both Metro Manila and a key market in Mindanao. For a brand still building name recognition outside enthusiast circles, planting flags in those locations makes a lot of strategic sense.

“Gateway Group coming on board tells us the demand is real, and we’d rather grow where people are already asking for us than get ahead of ourselves. Each new location is one more place a Filipino can get to know BAIC up close, and that’s what keeps this moving.”
BAIC Lineup

The timing also lines up with a broader push into electrified vehicles. BAIC is bringing a handful of new energy models to the local market, including the B30e Dune Hybrid, the B40e Trailmaster rEV, the B60 Beaumont Diesel Hybrid, and the B60e Beaumont rEV. The lineup spans hybrid and full-electric options, which fits squarely into where buyer interest has been trending, particularly among urban consumers looking at alternatives to conventional combustion vehicles.

Both sides framed the deal as more than just a distribution arrangement. Gateway Group gets a fresh brand with an expanding EV portfolio. BAIC gets a dealer partner with the infrastructure and experience to support customers properly, from the showroom floor all the way through aftersales.

Executives from both organizations attended the contract signing, including Kenneth Sytin, Vice Chairman of UAAGI; Markane Goho, Chairman and CEO of MG Gateway Mantrade Corp.; and Alvin Lu, the company's General Manager.

With the Manila Bay, BGC Taguig, and Matina, Davao outlets still to open, BAIC's dealer count is set to grow in the months ahead.
