Locally, the Geely Azkarra currently sits as one of the brand’s most refined offerings yet. Apart from the Coolray which has been selling like hotcakes, the compact crossover has also received much love and acceptance from several Filipinos. In a global context though, the Chinese automaker has already sold over a million units already, and that is quite a milestone for Geely.
It was just last month when the brand surpassed a whopping 10,000,000 sales worldwide, and yet here comes another good chapter for Geely. The 1,000,000 marks were then garnered by the Azkarra or also known as the Bo Yue in China, after nearly 4 years of presence. This compact crossover was introduced back in late 2016 and now it is currently sold in 17 countries across the globe including Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, Africa, and Russia.
Since its debut, the Geely Azkarra averaged over 20,000 units sold per month. Gladly, it didn’t even show any signs of slowing down in China as well as in other countries. Before the existing 1.5-liter turbocharged motor paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, the model was first introduced with a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine for the Chinese market.
Geely made its Philippine comeback with the Coolray, which then followed the introduction of the Azkarra, serving as its sole entry to the compact crossover segment. This vehicle boasts in terms of high-tech features as well as fine craftsmanship that can outrun some of its competitors. Plus, it’s priced quite affordably, which is indeed good as it does give buyers a lot for less. Locally, the Geely Azkarra can be had in either FWD or AWD, and only the range-topping variant gets the mild-hybrid system.
