One of the more refined crossovers in the lineup and in the market, the Geely Azkarra comes packed with features and tech, but it also is one of the safest compact crossovers in the Philippines with its China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) rating of 5 stars, which makes the vehicle one of the safest in the country for its segment.
In the latest list published by the C-NCAP, the Azkarra, otherwise known as the Boyue, managed to get a 5.82 with a 5-star grade. It edged out other recently tested vehicles from other brands such as Nissan, Subaru, and even BMW. Though, it is important to note that the Boyue that was tested had a 1.8-liter turbo engine with an automatic transmission. A slight difference over the local models with the 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a 7-speed DCT. The top of the line variant in the Philippines – the Geely Azkarra Premium also features an Electric Motor Synergy (EMS) system. Though the results should more or less be the same since the chassis and underpinnings of the Boyue are the same as the Azkarra in the Philippines.
Since the very beginning, safety has always been Geely’s primary concern for its vehicles. We equate value with safety. From research and development, pre-production, manufacturing, sale, and after-sales service, we keep in our minds the drivers, passengers, and pedestrians – their safety and peace of mind in every drive
With the safety of passengers being one of the most important aspects of cars, China has been actively participating with other automotive safety assessment agencies across the globe. The country is continually improving the products rolling off factory floors and educating the public on road safety among other goals.
Not just the Azkarra, however, but also the Geely Coolray got top marks with the ASEAN NCAP. The subcompact crossover also scored a 5-star safety rating back in October of 2020.
