Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the official local distributor of Geely vehicles in the country, proudly announced that the Geely Coolray has dominated the charts once again with it ranked number one in the subcompact crossover segment from January to March 2021. A total of 744 units were sold during the first quarter of this year.
Geely Philippines came out strong last March 2021, with the brand recording its highest monthly sales of 533 units sold. Notably, this surpasses the previous figures from December last year, with only 520 units registered.
Part of the Chinese automaker’s strong performance is that it was also able to maintain its top 10 ranking. Therefore, keeping the number 9 spot in total industry sales with a total of 1,313 units sold throughout the 1st quarter of 2021. This then translates to a 345% increase from the 295 units sold in the same period of 2020. With Geely Philippines’ 1,313 vehicles sold in Q1, 57% of those numbers came from the Coolray, which is currently its best-selling model. While 40% of its total Q1 sales came from Okavango with 521 units.
The numbers speak for themselves. We are happy that we continue to maintain and even surpass our own highest record. This is reflective of our collective effort to rise above pandemic challenges.
Geely has set its 9,500 sales target this year. However, many constraints and challenges continue to arise given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, many safety protocols and other stricter quarantine protocols are being implemented, given that the overall business environment mainly concerns consumer confidence. Despite that, the brand remains optimistic, as they are still hoping that the situation gets better in the coming months in order for them to achieve its business volume target.
