When it comes to buying a new car safety should be one of your top priorities. Enter the Geely Coolray one of the more popular crossovers in the country has now officially gotten an ASEAN NCAP safety rating. The New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has thoroughly tested the car to find out just how safe it is and has revealed that the Coolray has gotten a 5-star safety rating.
While the reports state that the vehicle crashed was Proton X50, don't be alarmed as it is the Coolray’s mechanical twin. Proton has rebadged the model from Geely to better suit its lineup. These two vehicles are in fact mechanically identical and as such come with the same safety equipment found in the local Coolray units in the Philippines.
In terms of its adult occupant protection, the Coolray was able to get 13.42 points out of 16 for the front impact test as well as a 16/16 for its side-impact test. It is important to note that the ASEAN NCAP states that even with these higher scores there is still a low to medium risk of injury for adults seated at the front.
When it comes to child occupant protection the Geely crossover is no slouch either as it scores impressively in this category. The Coolray was able to get perfect scores for front and side-impact protection for children, making it one of the safest crossovers you can buy in the Philippines.
When it comes to its safety assist technology the Coolray also scores well, thanks to its stability control, a 360-degree camera, and a blind-spot monitoring system. With these features, the crossover was able to get a full 5-star safety rating from the crash testing organization. With such impressive scores, it gives prospective buyers all the more reasons to buy a Coolray as it is now one of the safest crossovers available in the local market today.
