General Motors, home to brands like Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC, has recently celebrated its 500 million vehicle milestone in over 106 years of manufacturing cars and trucks globally.
Together with 5 GM regional celebrations, the company emphasized how customers, who shared great affinity to the brand, have played an important role in achieving this historical event. In this regard, GM leaders around the globe surprised 5 loyal owners with brand-new GM-branded vehicles.
“This celebration isn’t about GM’s manufacturing prowess. It is really about our customers and the positive experiences they’ve had with Chevrolet and other GM-branded vehicles around the world,” said Stefan Jacoby, GM Executive Vice President and President of GM International.
In Thailand, company leaders handed over the keys to a brand-new Chevrolet Colorado High Country to Mr. Khwankoom, a farmer from the Pichit Province. He shared a video entry pertaining to how his current Colorado has brought significant luck to his family.
In the US, Army veteran Trent Brining was given an all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, while Anna Katharina received a new Zafira Tourer in Germany after sharing her testimony as to why she calls GM engineers as heroes. In China, Da Shuo, an entrepreneur, was given the keys to a new Chevrolet Trax. Lastly, avid travelers Amandio Palhares and Joselle Pinheiro received a brand-new Chevrolet Cruze after spending 9 months traveling in a Chevrolet truck from their home in Brazil to Alaska.
In a speech made by GM CEO Mary Barra during the U.S. event, she spoke of how the company’s vehicles have contributed well to the lives of its customers - from daily commutes to family vacations, GM has always found inspiration to build cars on this achievement.
This year, GM expects to sell more than 1,000 vehicles per hour, 24 hours per day, globally. As Barra added, “This adds up to nearly 10 million vehicles, the most in our history. I look at this extraordinary volume as 10 million opportunities to prove what kind of company we are and to say thank you.”
