BYD Cars Philippines, the local arm of ACMobility, has teamed up with Grab Philippines to kick off the very first BYD Grab Day Caravan. The event took place last June at the BYD dealership in Bonifacio Global City and marked a big step toward making electric and hybrid vehicles more accessible for Filipinos, especially through Grab’s popular superapp.
This new initiative is part of BYD’s bigger goal to spread electric mobility across the country. Thanks to the partnership, GrabCar drivers now have the chance to use BYD’s high-tech electric and hybrid cars, giving everyday commuters a smooth, efficient, and eco-friendly ride. In addition, according to BYD, their New Energy Vehicles can cut down on operational and maintenance costs by up to 40 percent compared to traditional gas-powered cars, meaning drivers can take home more of their earnings.
“This partnership with Grab allows us to bring electrified mobility into everyday transport, making it more accessible to more Filipinos. It reflects our commitment to building a cleaner, more efficient transport ecosystem, one that meets real-world needs at scale.”
At the center of this partnership is the BYD Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic, a smart, fuel-efficient sedan built on BYD’s next-gen Super DM-i platform. Perfect for ride-hailing service, it can go up to 50 km on pure electric power and an impressive 1,175 km with its combined range. It also comes with a roomy interior, low operating costs, and the convenience of just one preventive maintenance check a year, making it a smart pick for TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) drivers.
“The BYD Grab Day Caravan allows us to bring our electrified vehicles directly to the people who can benefit from them the most. It’s a great opportunity for GrabCar drivers to see and experience how the Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic delivers the kind of efficiency, comfort, and reliability that ride-hailing services demand every day.” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.
At the event, GrabCar drivers got behind the wheel of the Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic for test drives, explored its features, and even had access to special financing deals from bank partners, complete with on-the-spot application processing.
“The partnership between Grab Philippines and BYD is a very welcome development not only for the riding public but also for our hardworking GrabCar driver-partners,” shared Ronald Roda, Grab Philippines Managing Director. “Through this collaboration, we aim to provide our drivers and operators the best opportunities to earn more and save more with BYD electrified vehicles while at the same time being responsible partners toward a greener and more sustainable mobility,” added Roda.
After its successful launch, the BYD Grab Day Caravan is gearing up to go nationwide, with stops planned at BYD dealerships across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the third quarter of the year. That means even more GrabCar drivers across the country will get the chance to check out BYD’s electric vehicles and enjoy the savings and benefits that come with them.
