GWM’s Haval H9 made its first local appearance earlier this year at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, and now it looks like it’s getting closer to launch. The big SUV, which comes with three rows and a boxy design, was seen as a possible rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Ford Everest, Nissan Terra, and maybe even the Land Cruiser Prado. While it wasn’t officially launched at the time, it was confirmed to come with a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine and a BorgWarner 4WD system, along with features like leather seats and a touchscreen infotainment setup.
As reported by AutoIndustriya, the LTO’s homologation documents confirm that the local-spec Haval H9 will be called the AWD 9AT, fitted with a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine (officially listed as 2,370cc) and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It’s also expected to carry the BorgWarner 4WD system, which should help when driving off-road or on rough roads.
The H9 is built big, with a length of 4,950mm, width of 1,976mm, and height of 1,930mm. It has a 2,850mm wheelbase and sits 224mm off the ground, running on 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/55 tires. These numbers put it in the same size range as some of the most popular SUVs in the country right now.
Aside from its size and diesel engine, the Haval H9 also comes with a long list of features based on what was shown during its local preview at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show. Inside, the SUV is fitted with Nappa leather seats, two digital screens, one for the instrument cluster and another as a floating infotainment display, plus middle-row aircon controls to keep rear passengers comfy.
GWM hasn’t shared the price or launch date just yet, but with the H9 now approved for the local market, it’s likely only a matter of time. The current GWM lineup has already made a name for itself in the country, especially among pickup and SUV buyers. While we wait for the official launch, which might be coming sooner than we expect, check out GWM’s available models now on AutoDeal.com.ph.
