Vios Cup is arguably one of the most well-known motorsport events in the Philippines. It has gone four successful years with a handful of drivers who kept on coming back for more. On its 5th season, the race will see aspiring lineup of new and returning drivers.
Quite promising, this new season is something to look forward to with its few changes especially with the onset of the new names that will add to the growing community of Vios Cup racers, including famous TV personalities.
New celebs will be competing for the title
While there are familiar names like Marc Soong, Vios Cup 2018 receives new entries, too. And, yes, there are celebrities included among the highly anticipated participants of this year's cup. These celebrities include Diego Loyzaga, Sofia Andres and Chie Filomeno, while Sam Milby’s participation will allow him to expand his racing career from motocross to one-make race.
The newcomers will be joining Gretchen Ho, Aubrey Miles, Fabio Ide, and Troy Montero, who have competed for the title in the past years. Looks like the challenge is all set in the ROTA Celebrity Class.
There are upgrades in the Super Sporting division
To hype-up the tension in the Super Sporting Category, there are upgrades available for the 16 contending drivers. This includes a lightweight hood and trunk lid that would minimize the car's weight and maximize its speed performance. Also, drivers may now fit a TRD Rotor Disc Brake for a more superior braking power on the track.
There’s a new race format
All 50 participants will be contending against the recently introduced three-leg race format. Leg 1 ad 3 will both be held at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, which we could consider a home to the Vios Cup. Meanwhile, you don't have to go north to witness the 2nd leg of this season, as Toyota is bringing back the cup back to the streets of Filinvest in Alabang.
Leg 1 is scheduled to happen on April 27 to 28 at 10:00 a.m. with the usual free admission. The setup will then be transferred to Filinvest in Alabang on July 28 to 29 for the 2nd leg. The race will go back to Clark on September 21 to 22 for the last and final round.
So there you have it. Are you ready for the 5th season of the Vios Cup? See you at Clark International Speedway this April 27 and 28!
