With the 2018 Formula 1 (F1) season just months away, it’s expected that teams will be launching their brand new cars within the next month. Here are the constructors and debut dates so you can catch it live and not miss out.
On February 22, 2018, Scuderia-Ferrari will pull the wraps off their contender for this season. Not much has been said during the announcement but Ferrari CEO and President Sergio Marchionne is confident that the car and the team will be competitive. Will the prancing horse be able to keep up with their rivals or will this be the season that they reclaim their former glory? We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out.
Speaking of rivals, Mercedes-AMG will launch their own car called the F1 W09 EQ Power+ on the same day as Ferrari at the Silverstone short International Circuit. Their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, will be given the chance to shake down their F1 cars. The pair will be allowed to drive for as much as 100 km for the day using demonstration tires.
Meanwhile, McLaren has confirmed that they will unveil their brand new car called the MCL33 on February 23, 2018. The teaser video below shows the evolution of their championship-winning F1 platforms. It ends with the hashtag ‘BeBrave’ followed by a high-tone rev similar to the V8 back in 2013.
Does the Woking-based team believe that they can finally fight for the championship this year? Will their new engine, which is now provided by Renault, sound as good as the video? If so, then we’re in for an exciting, eargasmic 2018 F1 season.
As of this writing, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, Force India, Williams, Renault, Toro Rosso, and Haas have yet to officially announce the launch date of their cars. It is, however, expected to happen in the following weeks. Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team, on the other hand, may have unveiled its entry when during the team’s official debut back in December 2017.
