Hino Motors Philippines (HMP) is one of the participants in the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program (PUVMP). The brand joined the first ever modern PUV caravan held in the Clark Economic Zone in Pampanga last July 4, 2019. The theme of the first caravan was “Arangkada ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Kaunlaran”
The modern PUV caravan was a joint undertaking between the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC). In cooperation with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Landbank of the Philippines, and various industry associations and vehicle manufacturers, including HMP.
The caravan launch today is a strong manifestation of the collaborative effort of private and public partners in the implementation of the PUV Modernization Program. We intend to push this program as far and as fast as possible and that won’t happen without the support of all the stakeholders.
The LTO undersecretary, Mark Richmond de Leon likewise called for the support of all entities and stakeholders, as well as the drivers and transport cooperatives for the PUVMP to be a success. He also highlighted that the PUVMP is a priority project to help usher in a better economy for the country.
Around thirty legs of the PUVMP caravans are to be expected and scheduled to be held nationwide until February 2020. The first phase will run for the entire month of July until the first week of August. Urdaneta City, Pangasinan; San Fernando City, La Union; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Santiago, Isabela; Baguio City; Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; and Marilao City, Bulacan are the locations that the caravan will travel through.
HMP’s PNS-compliant modern PUVs are Jeepney Class II (AC) and Jeepney Class III (AC) models. These vehicles come equipped with a Euro 4 compliant engine, and will be able to provide comfortable seating and safety features for passengers to experience a worry-free commute when the time comes.
The HMP chairman shared that they are honored to be a part of the program, since the goal is to gradually improve the national transport system. HMP will be committed and well-positioned to support the PUVMP, and will look forward to the opportunities that this program will bring to the table.
