Honda is continuing its commitment to safety and a collision-free society as both the Honda Accord and Honda City have received honors at the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) Grand Prix Awards 2020. The Accord, the larger of the two sedans, was able to win three awards from the “Best Safety Performance” category, while its smaller sibling the City was able to bring home the “ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award - Consistent 5-star.”

The 10th generation Honda Accord was able to win the following awards under the “Best safety Performance Category”: the “Adult Occupant Protection” award, “Child Occupant Protection award, and the “Overall” award for the highest score of the overall assessment. Locally,, the Japanese sedan made its debut back in 2019 and brought with it Honda “SENSING” technology that increased the vehicle’s safety factor. Armed with the new technology, the Accord can now help prevent and even effectively respond to emergency situations decreasing the likelihood of a crash.

The 5th generation Honda City in the Philippines, on the other hand, was also able to receive high marks from the ASEAN NCAP as it garnered a 5-star safety rating. The sedan was given the “ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award - Consistent 5-star” award due to its 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations all getting 5-star safety ratings. The Honda City originally made its world debut in November of 2019 in Thailand and has only recently entered the Philippine market. A year after its first appearance, the City has already sold 45,000 units in the ASEAN region making it one of the best-selling Honda models in the area.
These awards are just a few of the brand’s numerous achievements in safety from the ASEAN NCAP throughout the past decade. As Honda continues its commitment to safer vehicles and a collision-free society, we can expect to see more models in its lineup be upgraded with smarter and more advanced safety technology.
