The local executive sedan segment has a new challenger as Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) revealed the updated 2016 Accord. In a nutshell, the new Accord features a refreshed exterior and an upgraded interior.
Up front, the updated Accord has new sharper-looking LED headlights with daytime running lights, a restyled grille, a revamped front bumper, and LED multi-projector fog lamps.
The rear also received a bumper and LED taillight update. The 2016 Accord is finished off with sporty alloy wheels (18-inch for the 3.5 SV Navi variant while 17-inch for the 2.4 S Navi).

The interior looks relatively similar to the previous model. It features power adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear aircon vents, rear center armrest audio controls, and a sunroof (for the 3.5 SV Navi variant). However, Honda did made some design upgrades in certain areas.

For its infotainment, HCPI said that the Accord’s intelligent multi-information display (i-MID) has an improved display resolution that can now show several information simultaneously such as the trip computer, audio, and compass.
In addition, the 2.4 S Navi variant now comes with an auxiliary switch, which allows the rear passenger to adjust the front seat according to his/her preference.
As for its safety features, the 2016 Accord is equipped with ‘LaneWatch’ technolog which helps improve visibility of the driver’s blind spot. It also has Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), multi-view reverse camera, front and rear sensors, and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
Under the hood, the refreshed Accord can have either the 3.6L V6 or the 2.4L engine. The former delivers a max power output of 277 hp. It is then mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. On the other hand, the 2.4L engine produces 173 hp and comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The 2.4 S Navi variant is priced at P1,788,000 while the 3.5 SV Navi gets a price tag of P2,288,000.
The updated 2016 Accord is available in 5 colors: White Orchid Pearl (additional P20,000), Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Carnelian Red Pearl (by order).
HCPI added that the new Accord will be on display at Alabang Town Center Activity Area from May 20 to 22, 2016.
