Hongqi Philippines reinforced its commitment to blending high performance with real-world efficiency and usability after its all-wheel-drive (AWD) battery electric vehicles delivered strong results at the Department of Energy (DOE) Eco Run held on September 24, 2025.
The DOE Eco Run followed a 154.5-km route from Tarlac through Pangasinan to La Union, using the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX) to simulate realistic highway conditions. Designed to produce credible, real-world energy efficiency data, the event featured a diverse mix of internal combustion vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles. Most of the participating BEVs were equipped with single-motor drivetrains, with only a limited number running dual-motor AWD systems, all driven under actual expressway conditions.
Hongqi fielded its high-performance dual-motor AWD variants, which, notably, also posted the highest power and torque figures among the vehicles in the run. To mirror typical expressway driving behavior, the vehicles accelerated beyond 100 kph to overtake slower traffic before settling back into an 80 kph cruising speed. After the runs, the Hongqi EHS7 Flagship AWD returned an energy efficiency figure of 48.79 km/Lge, the EH7 Flagship AWD, meanwhile, achieved an even higher 51.16 km/Lge, and the EHS9 Flagship AWD recorded 40.57 km/Lge.
Keep in mind that these efficiency figures were recorded even at these vehicles’ high-performance outputs. Both the EHS7 Flagship AWD and the EH7 Flagship AWD produce 610 hp and 756 Nm of torque, while the larger EHS9 Flagship AWD delivers 544 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
While Hongqi’s rear-wheel-drive variants did not take part in the DOE Eco Run, Hongqi Philippines shared manufacturer-tested city-driving efficiency data for these models. According to Hongqi, the EHS7 Executive is capable of reaching 61.4 km/Lge, while the EH7 Executive sedan can achieve an even higher 63.5 km/Lge. Both RWD variants produce 339 hp, 253 kW, and 450 Nm of torque.
“The DOE Eco Run results reaffirm Hongqi’s commitment to delivering electric vehicles that combine exceptional performance with real-world efficiency. Hongqi’s BEVs demonstrate that high performance and efficiency can go hand in hand. From our dual-motor AWD models to single-motor RWD vehicles, each achieves strong power and notable energy efficiency, reflecting our commitment to engineering excellence and a refined driving experience across the entire lineup.”
