Hyundai Philippines served as the official mobility partner of the 2018 Philippine Inter-Collegiate Debate Championship (PIDC) with the H350 multi-purpose van. To ensure comfort and safety of the youth leaders, the van hauled the La Salle Debate Society at the University of Philippines (UP) Diliman for the preliminary rounds. The H350 also carried them for the semi-finals, championship rounds, and awards night held at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Mandaluyong City.
Hosted by the UP Debate Society, the competition gathered 350 students from the country’s top educational institutions. With the theme “Take the Lead,” the scholars voiced out their opinions on the hottest socio-political-economic issues in the Philippines.
The La Salle Debate Society managed to beat UP-Diliman with their wit and strategy, gaining the 2018 PIDC Grand Champion title. In order to recognize their excellent and empowering ideas, the winning team acquired the special “People of Hyundai” award and a cash prize sponsored by Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI).
Hyundai also prepared another ‘Hyundai Round’ for the semi-finals frontrunners, where Ateneo Debate Society and UP-Diliman Debate Society went head-to-head on the topic about serious mobility concerns and possible transport solutions with the help of innovation and technology.
“We congratulate this year’s winners and applaud the PIDC for providing students with a venue for meaningful conversations about the country’s most pressing issues. Hyundai is all about empowering people to get more out of life, and we are happy to have been part of these young people’s continuing journey to become leaders in their respective fields. We welcome the PIDC to the People of Hyundai.”
