The Hyundai i20 was once a familiar nameplate here in the Philippines. Back in 2015, the model came out here as a crossover, though after some time, the model was then removed from the local lineup. Despite having no expectations for a local comeback, there have been teasers of the 2021 Hyundai i20 N, which is set to be the hot hatch of the i20 lineup.

Now, this shall serve as an extension of the brand’s N portfolio, which is composed of those performance boosted models from the Hyundai brand, including other models like the Veloster N, which serves as the sportier counterpart of its standard model. Now, this specific model shall sit above the i20 N-Line. In terms of styling, the feisty hot hatch is gearing towards sportiness. Apart from those sleek headlights, it also gets such reinforcements like those large air intakes, and a prominent front splitter, which are both aesthetically and functionally good. Given its far more aggressive sportiness than the aforementioned N-Line trim, this hot hach comes with a set of chunkier side skirts and those larger N-branded brakes.
It’s also blessed with a set of 18-inch alloys which features a rather unique design. As for the rear, the i20 N gets a roof-mounted spoiler, plus, those gorgeous looking taillights which is somewhat synonymous with the N-Line model. Lasly, the overall exterior is then finished with the Phantom Black roof serving as the contrast color of the car.
As for its powertrain, it is said the sporty subcompact hatch shall come with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that’s capable of churning out a healthy dose of 201 hp and 275 Nm of torque. This hot hatch shall only be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission for that more engaging drive.
Its official reveal shall commence in the coming weeks. Given the following teaser images provide by Hyundai, it is without a doubt that the i20 N will surely be a potential addition to the N family of vehicles.
