The all-electric Hyundai INSTER has earned the title ‘Supermini of the Year’ at the 2026 TopGear.com awards in London. The recognition comes from one of Europe’s most well-known automotive media outlets, with experts praising the INSTER for its well-rounded performance, clever use of space, and strong equipment package.
According to TopGear.com, the INSTER leads the fast-growing small EV category with its balance of practicality and fun-to-drive performance. This award follows other global wins for the model, including “2025 World Electric Vehicle of the Year” in New York and the “Golden Steering Wheel” from Berlin.
The TopGear.com Awards are held annually and highlight the best new vehicles launched globally over the past twelve months. Across a wide range of categories, the awards recognize models that set benchmarks in performance, innovation, and driving appeal. Aside from the main program, TopGear.com also hosts dedicated Electric Awards to honor the most impressive electric vehicles of the year.
Hyundai Motor Europe President and CEO Xavier Martinet said the award is proof of how much the INSTER resonates with both experts and everyday drivers. He added that its combination of efficient performance, practical range, and user-friendly features reflects what modern European drivers are looking for in an EV.
The INSTER features a compact SUV design made for city driving but with enough capability for longer trips. It offers an all-electric WLTP range of up to 370 kilometers with its long-range battery, and it can charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes at a DC fast charger.
Buyers can choose between two electric powertrains: one with 97 hp and a 42 kWh battery, and another with 115 hp and a 49 kWh battery. Both setups provide smooth, responsive power and quiet operation. Inside, the INSTER has a digital cockpit with dual 10.25-inch displays, flexible seating, and a roomy cabin, making it a practical and affordable entry point into the world of zero-emission driving. Though the Inster isn’t for sale here in the Philippines, Hyundai Motor Philippines currently provides a wide array of vehicles to choose from.
