Hyundai Motor Company extended its string of successes at the World Car Awards by clinching the title of the 2024 World Performance Car with the IONIQ 5 N high-performance electric vehicle (EV). This marks the fourth significant win for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 lineup in the past three years.
If you may remember, in both 2022 and 2023, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 achieved consecutive victories, each claiming three titles at the World Car Awards. With this recent win, Hyundai continues to show the world the strength and quality of its IONIQ brand of EVs. This award, along with other title winners of this year's competition was revealed by the World Car Awards at the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
“We are thrilled and honored to receive the prestigious World Performance Car award for our IONIQ 5 N. This recognition is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric performance and innovation. It is truly gratifying to see our efforts rewarded with a total of seven World Car Awards titles in the last three years. We are proud to continue our winning streak and solidify Hyundai’s position as a leader in the global EV industry.”
Launched in July 2023 as the inaugural EV from Hyundai N, the IONIQ 5 N introduces a fresh category of driver-centric, high-performance electric vehicles, boasting cutting-edge technologies and enhanced racetrack capabilities.
The IONIQ 5 N is equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack and two electric motors generating a total output of 641 hp and a monstrous 740 Nm of torque plus all-wheel drive capabilities. All this muscle can get the IONIQ 5 N from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds all the way to a top speed of 260 km/h. Combine that with a stiffened chassis and aerodynamic upgrades, the IONIQ 5 N can electrify any racetrack it visits.
