Hyundai IONIQ 9 earns five-star ANCAP safety rating for both six- and seven-seater versions.

If you were worried about safety, Hyundai’s IONIQ 9 might put your mind at ease. The Hyundai IONIQ 9 has received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The model became available in the Philippines in July, priced at ₱4.58 million, and offers 39 customizable finishes for buyers in the mid- to full-size electric SUV segment.

ANCAP tested both the six- and seven-seater versions of the IONIQ 9, and both secured the highest possible rating. The SUV scored 84% in Adult Occupant Protection, receiving an overall “good” rating for front passenger body protection. Some point deductions were noted for driver chest and lower leg protection, as well as chest protection for rear passengers, but none of these fell into critical levels.

In terms of Road User Protection, which measures pedestrian safety, the IONIQ 9 scored 77 percent, making it the lowest among its categories. Meanwhile, Safety Assist was rated at 85 percent after the SUV passed a series of tests for its automatic emergency braking system and other driver assistance features.

For Child Occupant Protection, the IONIQ 9 earned its best score of 86 percent. It performed well in both frontal offset and side impact tests, showing no weaknesses in physical protection. The rating was slightly reduced because the model does not have airbag disabling features or a child presence detection system. The latter is a specific requirement in Australia but is not a global standard.

With its features, seating choices, and five-star safety score, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 stands out as a strong EV option in the local market. If you want to know more, check out the full specs of the IONIQ 9 or browse the Hyundai lineup at AutoDeal.com.ph.
