Hyundai Philippines recently updated its price list and two new variants of the Reina have now surfaced along with a P10,000 increase for the GL MT and AT variants. The two new variants now cost an extra P30,000 more than the standard GL variants, but the price increase is justified by the addition of smartphone mirroring options.
The two new variants still retain the GL variant designation but now have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible head units. For now, not much else is known about the new head units but expect it to be in a 2DIN touchscreen as the current Reina has provisions for it already present on the dashboard. Apart from that, the vehicle also now comes standard with AVN for the newest variants.
AVN is Hyundai’s own proprietary infotainment system with audio, video, and navigation. The system has already been implemented in other vehicles in Hyundai’s lineup since 2015 as seen in the i20 in India. If a similar system is to be implemented in the Reina, it may come in the form of a 7-inch touchscreen. The implemented version of AVN already offers offline maps to help user navigation in the absence of the internet.
Even without the new head unit and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, the Reina still offers good value for money. It was able to score well in our review of the vehicle, notable characteristics include its shifter in its manual variant as well as its storage capabilities around the car and in the trunk. It also put up impressive fuel economy figures, bringing in 10.8 km/L in the city and 23.8km/L on the highway.
