Hyundai Motor Company has announced that it will be launching the all-new Staria in Thailand on July 9, 2021. Marked as the successor to the Hyundai Grand Starex its Thai launch marks the new vehicle’s entry into the ASEAN market which also brings it one step closer to being sold in the Philippine market. That being said, whatever variants and features the Thailand model gets will likely make its way into the local market as well.
Reports have stated that Thailand will be getting the standard version of Hyundai Staria as seen in the teaser image above. The Standard variant comes with a body-colored grille and much smaller LED lights compared to the Premium trim. It is important to note, that the Premium variant comes with a copper mesh grille, and full-height LED headlights. Aside from this, the Standard also comes with a different dashboard, a different gauge cluster, and a different range of infotainment systems available as well. Even with the Premium variant reportedly not being part of the launch roster, the Standard trim already brings a lot to the table as it has multiple seating configurations available.
While not yet confirmed, reports have stated that the Hyundai Staria for the Thailand market could come with a Smartstream version of the brand’s 2.2-liter turbo diesel motor. It will reportedly make 174 hp and 431 Nm of torque and will shift via either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. A 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine is also an available power option for the van, however, it will not be available for the Thai version.
With the launch of the all-new Hyundai Staria happening soon in the Land of Smiles, it’s only a matter of time before it officially makes its debut in the local automotive market. For now, we will have to wait for Hyundai Philippines to give an official announcement.
