Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific has dropped a new film for its "Hyundai, Driving ASEAN as One" campaign, and it lands at a pretty big moment for the brand. The release ties directly into Hyundai's role as title partner for the Hyundai Cup™ 2026, a regional football tournament running from July 24 to August 26. Rather than just slapping a logo on a sponsorship deal, Hyundai is using the film to tell a bigger story about Southeast Asia coming together, leaning on football as the connective tissue and framing mobility as something that pulls people closer rather than just gets them from point A to point B.
Hyundai points to more than 27 years of global sports sponsorship history backing this push, and the ASEAN campaign folds neatly into the company's broader "Progress for Humanity" philosophy, essentially the idea that real progress only happens when people move forward collectively, and that cars and mobility can play a role in shrinking the distance between communities.
Faraz Shamsi, Executive Marketing Director at Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific, put it plainly when describing what the tournament means beyond the pitch. He called Hyundai Cup™ 2026 a reflection of what ASEAN represents at its core: diversity, resilience, and togetherness that doesn't break under pressure, stating, “Hyundai Cup™ 2026 is more than a football tournament, it is a celebration of what ASEAN stands for: diversity, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of togetherness. Through this main film and our ‘Driving ASEAN as One’ campaign, we want every fan across the region to feel that Hyundai is with them on this journey. At Hyundai, our vision of Progress for Humanity is not just a tagline; it is our commitment to driving meaningful change and connection in every market we serve. Hyundai Cup™ 2026 is one of the most powerful ways we can bring that commitment to life across Southeast Asia.”
Front and center in the campaign sits the Hyundai Stargazer, tapped as the hero vehicle for the whole Hyundai Cup™ 2026 push. It's not a random pick either. The Stargzer was built around ideas of comfort, connection, and family-friendly mobility, which lines up well with the "Driving ASEAN as One" messaging. In the film, it's positioned almost like a stand-in for the region itself, a vessel carrying people's shared hopes and everyday journeys forward together.
The campaign content has already gone live across Hyundai's social channels throughout ASEAN, and as the tournament date creeps closer, fans in all 11 participating countries can expect stadium activations on match days, giveaways for supporters, and chances to test drive Hyundai vehicles.
Here in the Philippines, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is taking things a step further with activations aimed squarely at grassroots football development. The company has teamed up with youth football camps and clinics across Metro Luzon, supplying equipment to help young players train. During these sessions, the Stargazer will be displayed alongside the Creta, giving families attending the camps a firsthand look at both models.
Some of the standout young athletes from these clinics won't just walk away with new gear either. They'll be given a shot at joining the inaugural Hyundai Cup Fun Day happening at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub on July 18. From there, select kids will be chosen to serve as Kids Escorts for the Philippine leg of the tournament's opening match on July 28, where they'll walk out alongside the national teams of Myanmar and the Philippines at New Clark City Athletics Stadium, a pretty memorable experience for any young football fan.
Beyond the youth programs, everyday customers get a piece of the action too. Anyone interested in test-driving the Creta or Stargazer can head to select Hyundai dealerships through August 31 and walk away with exclusive Hyundai Cup™ 2026 merchandise for their trouble.
“We at Hyundai Motor Philippines have always advocated for excellence and passion in sports, more so when we get to support homegrown talents. We are happy to provide opportunities for these young footballers to showcase their potential and make their journey as athletes even more memorable. With local initiatives of the Hyundai Cup™ 2026, we underscore our role as a mobility partner for Filipino families, both on the road and on the football pitch.”
