Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) celebrated its 20th year in the local automotive industry by introducing the 2018 mu-X and D-Max. These 2 models are now equipped with ‘Blue Power’ Euro 4 diesel engine.
The Blue Power diesel engine is said to provide “cleaner emission, superb fuel economy, and engine durability.” As such, the 3.0L engine found on the mu-X and D-Max can generate 175 hp and 380 Nm of torque.
With this, the new Blue Power diesel engine gives the mu-X and D-Max a boost of 14 hp as compared to the old power unit. The torque rating, on the other hand, remains the same. Of note, the mu-X now has a 6-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the old 5-speed. The D-Max will still be integrated with a 5-speed automatic.
The exterior of the mu-X gets a number of design tweaks such as a restyled grille, a revamped bumper, and new LED headlights with daytime running lamps. The rear has a redesigned bumper and the taillights now come with LED positioning lamps. The mu-X’s profile is unchanged except for the 18-inch alloy wheels which replaces the 17-inch that it used to have. In case you’re wondering, the D-Max didn’t get any exterior updates.
Inside, the mu-X and the D-Max relatively have a similar design as compared to its older models. The notable changes would be the presence of more soft touch materials and a new seat design. In addition, the mu-X features auto-headlight leveling, hill descent control, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The D-Max now comes with hill start assist, hill descent control, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen, and USB ports.
IPC has yet to announce the official pricing of the 2018 mu-X and D-Max.
