Last week, on October 4, 2025, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), in coordination with its Cebu dealer partner Iconic Dealership, Inc. (IDI), distributed relief supplies to around 200 families in Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio, one of the areas severely affected by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the earthquake affected more than 170,000 people and resulted in over 70 fatalities. San Remigio was placed under a state of calamity following the incident, with authorities also issuing a Minor Sea Level Disturbance advisory.
The Isuzu team, led by IPC Department Head of Dealer Sales Mario Ojales and Isuzu Mandaue Branch Head Eufemio Ybanez, transported bottled water and other essential supplies from Mandaue City to San Remigio. Isuzu Mobile Medic trucks—normally used for on-site vehicle assistance—were utilized to deliver the goods to residents.
Barangay Captain Rey Tamboboy of Poblacion, San Remigio, along with other local officials, assisted in the distribution of relief packs. “We are deeply thankful to Isuzu Philippines and Iconic Dealership for their swift response and generosity,” Tamboboy said. “Their support brings hope and comfort to our community during this difficult time.”
“At Isuzu, we believe that being a Responsible Partner also means stepping up when communities need us most. We are committed not only to powering businesses but also to empowering lives, especially in times of crisis.”
Ybanez noted the resilience of residents during the distribution effort. “It was truly heartwarming to see how the community came together despite the challenges,” he said. “We’re grateful to be part of an organization that prioritizes compassion and action, and we’re proud to support our fellow Cebuanos.”
This humanitarian effort underscores Isuzu’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that its role goes far beyond just making vehicles, but also driving positive change in communities.
