JAECOO is bringing the J5 SHS to the Philippine market

JAECOO Philippines was teasing the arrival of the J5 a while back, and now, they've confirmed that it's making an appearance at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show, completing the brand’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) lineup here.

The J5 SHS is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with JAECOO’s SHS hybrid system, developing 221 hp and 295 Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels. Supporting the crossover are MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear.

As for the looks, the J5 SHS follows the design of its bigger brother, the J7 SHS. That means it gets a boxy design and a rather imposing stance despite its size. From the front, the J5 has a large grille with multiple vertical slats like the J7, slim headlights, and air vents at the sides, giving it a minimal but assertive look.

From the side, the J5 SHS has a gently sloping roofline and character lines that stretch from the fender to the rear, giving the side profile more character. Large 18-inch alloy wheels fill out the wheel arches nicely, and the exclusion of black plastic fenders adds to a cleaner look.

At the rear, the taillights span the width of the car, paired with a subtly integrated spoiler that gives a sporty touch. The rear bumper features clean-cut lines and minimal clutter, keeping the overall design coherent and upscale.

Inside, the top-spec Luxury variant features leather upholstery, a large 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic moonroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Comfort variant comes with fabric upholstery and a smaller nine-inch touchscreen, though Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the lineup.

As for safety, standard features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control, among others. The Luxury variant adds a full suite of ADAS, including lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, intelligent evasion system, and lane-keeping assist.
