Big changes are in the works at GAC Motor Philippines and the first of these is a new leader for its local operations. GAC’s new distributor, Astara Philippines, recently announced who will be leading the helm for the Chinese marque in the future.
Astara Philippines has chosen Redentor “Jun” Cajayon as the new Brand Head for GAC Motor Philippines. Jun will be taking over bringing along with him 30 years of experience in automotive sales, marketing, and development. Astara also shares that as Brand Head for GAC Motor Philippines, Cajayon “will be responsible for driving strategic marketing direction, sales programs and dealer network development for the GAC Motor brand in the Philippines. Cajayon previously served as General Manager for Maxus Philippines under Ayala-led dealer AC Motors.
One of Cajayon’s first tasks as Brand Head is leading the launch of two new GAC models, the Empow and the all-new GS8 SUV. The GAC Empow is a sporty compact sedan while the GS8 is a midsize crossover SUV that will enter its second generation. When these two models officially launch on January 18, they will join GAC’s model lineup consisting of the GS3, GS4, and GN6, bringing GAC’s total model offerings in the country to five cars.
Apart from that, GAC aims to expand its network across the country, new showrooms and service facilities are in the works for the brand, hoping to officially open them within the first quarter.
“We have achieved significant milestones in our first year with Peugeot and we are confident that we will do the same for GAC Motor this year. Jun is a seasoned executive with an impressive track record, and we are happy to have him on board to drive GAC Motor to new heights through impactful marketing and sales campaigns,”
Astara, which formally launched in the Philippines back in January of 2022, has made a good name for itself as a major competitor in the Philippine automotive industry, with the addition of GAC, it is now the official distributor for Peugeot and GAC in the country. In the same year, Astara achieved a 297 percent year-over-year growth rate for Peugeot Philippines setting a new record for the French brand.
With that in mind, Astara has confidence that with Jun Cajayon at the helm of GAC, they can achieve the same records and milestones with the Chinese marque in the future.
