For the first time, the pole vault bar was set on Philippine soil for a global competition. Kia Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, joined the first-ever Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge as its official mobility partner. The event happened at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City on September 25, 2025, and featured Olympic standout EJ Obiena together with some of the world’s top pole vaulters.
EJ Obiena, now ranked No. 7 in the world and holder of the Asian pole vault record at 6.00 meters, has long wanted to bring world-class pole vaulting to the Philippines. After competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics, he shared his dream of hosting an international pole vault meet in his home country. That dream came true with the help of Atletang Ayala and the MVP Sports Foundation, who worked with Obiena to make the event possible.
The two-day program included the National Pole Vault Competition, a public meet and greet session, and the main World Pole Vault Challenge. It was officially sanctioned under the World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze category, which means it follows strict international standards, and the results will impact the global rankings of participating athletes. The competition was also supported by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association, World Athletics, and Asian Athletics, further proving its global standing.
Kia supported the event by providing vehicles for athlete transport, helping ensure smooth travel for competitors and guests. The brand also teased a deeper partnership with EJ Obiena, with more details expected to be shared in the coming months.
Fans in the Philippines finally got to experience world-class pole vault action up close, with EJ Obiena competing against some of the best athletes from around the world. Kia made the event possible and fueled excitement about what might come next with the country’s Olympic pole vault hero. See the full Kia lineup on AutoDeal.com.ph.
