Kia Philippines has shown that it lives by its tagline of “The Power to Surprise” as the Korean automaker has posted a record-breaking 124% year-on-year growth in the Philippine market.
This growth came thanks to new leadership under the Ayala Group of Companies. The brand was acquired in the early half of 2019. During its re-launch, the brand brought in some excitement with the unboxing of the Soluto and with a teaser of two new vehicles that it would bring into the market. These would later be the Stinger and the Seltos, as well as a refreshed lineup of vehicles for 2019.
The Soluto subcompact sedan, K2500 light-duty truck, Grand Carnival minivan, and the newest addition to the Kia Philippines’ lineup, the Seltos subcompact crossover, led the success of the company in 2019.
The Soluto lead the increase by capturing 51% of the sales volume of the company in 2019. This was followed by the K2500 with 21% and by the Grand Carnival with 13%. The Seltos, which came in the latter half of 2019, posted a 7% share of sales – an impressive performance coming from an all-new model. These four models alone account for 92% of the total sales of the brand in 2019.
The remaining 8% of sales came from the rest of Kia’s lineup such as the Stinger, Sportage, Forte, Rio, and Picanto. Altogether, the Korean automaker was able to sell 5,019 units. This is a 124% increase over what it sold in 2018, which amounted to 2,238 vehicles.
Of course, Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada is pleased with the brand’s sales numbers in 2019 and looks forward to a better performance this year.
As we enter 2020, Kia Philippines looks forward to surpassing its record with new vehicle introductions, the opening of new dealerships, and better aftersales services.
