Kia has pulled the wraps off its sixth and smallest EV to date at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show. First shown as a concept, the EV2 now makes the leap to production as a subcompact crossover that promises a roomy cabin and a competitive driving range despite its compact footprint.
In terms of size, the EV2 measures 4,060 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,575 mm tall, with a 2,565 mm wheelbase. While official ground clearance figures have yet to be released, the images suggest a relatively tall ride height that fits its crossover positioning.
Staying true to the concept, the EV2 wears a compact SUV design that takes inspiration from the EV9 and incorporates it into a small body. It adopts Kia’s Opposites United design language, highlighted by the latest Star Map lighting signature, giving it a sleek yet characterful look. Pronounced wheel arches and confident proportions help it stand out in the subcompact EV space.
Up front, the LED headlights and daytime running lights set the tone, while the boxy silhouette and flared arches give it a strong visual link to the larger EV9. Around the back, sculpted surfaces, distinct geometric alloy wheels, and LED taillights positioned at the outer edges complete the EV2’s bold and funky design.
Inside, passengers are greeted by a spacious cabin with a design that’s built around Kia’s “Picnic Box” concept. The concept provides a cozy, lounge-like interior anchored by a wraparound dashboard and crash pad that neatly integrates a panoramic wide display. The setup includes a five-inch climate control panel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Adding to the atmosphere are LED ambient lighting, horizontal design elements that enhance the sense of width, and fabric-rich materials that elevate tactile comfort.
The EV2 also comes loaded with thoughtful amenities such as adjustable cupholders, a wireless charging pad, wireless over-the-air updates, a Harman/Kardon sound system, and physical controls, stepping away from the trend of consolidating all controls into the infotainment screen.
Kia also equips the EV2 with an AI-powered voice assistant, smartphone-as-a-key functionality, and 100W USB-C ports. It further adds a dedicated Pet Mode, along with vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-grid capabilities that allow the car to power external devices or send energy back to the power grid.
As for cargo capacity, Kia says the EV2 offers up to 403 liters of luggage space in the four-seater configuration, which features sliding and reclining rear seats. Opt for the standard five-seater layout, and cargo capacity stands at a still-generous 362 liters.
No performance figures are out yet, but what we do know is that the EV2 will be offered with two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack and a larger 61.0 kWh unit. The smaller battery delivers up to 318 km of range, while the larger pack extends that to as much as 448 km, both measured on the WLTP cycle. Both batteries support DC fast charging, allowing a 10 to 80 percent recharge in just 29 minutes, as well as 11 kW and 22 kW AC charging.
Production of the EV2 is set to begin in Q1 2026 with the standard-range model, while the long-range and GT-Line variants are scheduled to follow later in the year. An official market launch will be announced closer to the start of sales, and there’s hope the Philippines will be among the EV2’s destinations, positioning it as an all-electric alternative to the Sonet crossover.
